Are Any of You Geeks...
...into Firefly? My sister-in-law is WAY into it, and has let me borrow the boxed set. I have only watched the first episode, but it's interesting. The Atlanta Dragon Con is this weekend and they really want us to come down and watch the parade, they will be in it dressed up as fantasy characters with their children. (FYI, they DO read my blog, I only wish they would leave me some comments, they must think they're not invited to chime in.) We're thinking we may go ahead and watch them, then head over to Underground Atlanta, which should be really cool. Did you know that the current Atlanta is not the original? The original is now underground beneath the new city. Cool, huh? We're gonna check it out. Should be really fun!

I love underground Atlanta! Oh man it's been too long since my last visit.
I also love "cons" of any type. I'd love to get to Comic Con one year.
I'm a scifi nut. It's the only reason I have satellite.
DC, Dragon Con is one of the largest if not the largest Con in the nation. Seriously, come visit me sometime over Labor weekend, bring your costume, and my s-i-l and I will take you. (Then we could go to Underground Atlanta.) You can stay with me at my house!
My sister and I really like the Firefly show. I watched the whole series about a year ago, and then Erik is really into it too, so I bought him the series (only one season) for our anniversary in June.
Don't watch the movie "Serenity" until you have seen the whole series. The movie ties up a lot of loose ends that were left when the series ended.
Shoot! Labor Day weekend is this weekend & I'm going to Arches National Park. I don't have Monday off so we're heading out early on Saturday & getting back late Sunday.
Still I could probably score a cheap ticket to Atlanta from Vegas in the future. Believe it or not I've seen round trip for less than $50.
Unfortunately my intro to the series was the movie, but I don't remember much about it. I was thinking while I was watching the show that the girl who plays Kaylee looks like Dana Cheryl. They have the same beautiful wide smile.
Wow, that's a great price DC. I don't have my own place to let you stay this year anyway, but yeah, I'd love to see you in the future. Have fun at Arches this year.
By wide smile are you saying that I have big teeth?! ;)
oh stop fishing dana. you know you have the cutest smile on the planet.
What? Haven't you noticed my Nancy Kerrigan giant teeth?! LOL!!
Firefly is awesome! The best TV show ever made! And yeah, seeing the movie makes much more sense after you've seen the series.
DragonCon is way cool! Well, if you're a geek that is.
BTW, this is Mary's brother-in-law-in-law (husband's sister's husband...if you're from the South, you'll understand perfectly). See...I do leave comments. ;)
I do read your blog everyday, but did not think that you would let a "geek" like me comment ;)
Anyway, I wasn't always like this, I used to be normal(at least as normal as a Preacher's kid can be). I got married and my husband corrupted me.
We are dressing up like Westley and Buttercup from the "Princess Bride" for the parade. It will fun. Go to their website to see pictures. With 30,000+ people it is awesome.
HA! I knew I could shame you into posting! Suckers! DC, you're super-cute, and even though you're fishing for compliments, I'll indulge you! ;P And, the teeth could be worse, you could have Eleanor Roosevelt teeth. (My dad always told me that if I didn't quit sucking my thumb, I'd look like Eleanor Roosevelt, I didn't know what he meant at the time.) Oh yeah, or mine - no enamel, and almost none of them can touch, no matter how hard I try, makes eating embarrassing sometimes.
Oh yeah, and Chris, for some reason when I saw your post I thought "Who's Chris?" (Duh, this whole POST was about Chris!) I just am not used to seeing you post comments, and I think it threw me. I'm glad you explained who you were, otherwise it would have taken me a little while to get it. My brain feels more than a little fried these days.
I am not fishing for compliments silly girls! :) No it's just that the actress that plays Kaylee is way cute and while I'm super flattered I'm a bit sheepish too. So I was trying to use a little self-deprecating humor to ease my sheepishness. :)
Oh fun! I'd love to dress up and be in a parade. That rocks!
I was just giving you trouble DC, I know you weren't fishing for compliments.
I just finished watching episodes 2 and 3. 3 was kinda scary (Bushwhacked). And now, I get to go try to get some sleep. Alone in my bed. Because Jeremy is at work. Why do I do these things to myself? Oh well, I have no doubt that I'll wake up with someone small in my bed, just like I have the last 2 nights. And I'm not really alone. The in-laws are here too. If any reavers come to get us, they'll hear it way before I do. (They're always asking me who was crying in the night, and I never know what they are talking about.)
It looks like sleeping soundly runs in the family.
I'm really bad about watching some alien show before going to bed. For example Signs came on a few weeks ago and yeah I stayed up and watched it. Then I couldn't sleep. We all know that I have serious alien issues. Why do I do it to myself I'll never know.
So - I think I'm the biggest dork of the bunch. My ring-tone for Mary is trumpeting fanfare. I was just thinking she should set Chris & Stacy up with that (since they love rennaisance, etc.) for when they call, then she could answer the phone "Hail, and well met" when they call.
Yeah. I know...
Sarah
Oh Sarah, you're not the BIGGEST dork here...I'm sure we could find you some rivals.
I love Firefly. I wish the theme song was longer. I consistently put all 43s- I think- of it on my mp3 player.
Kaylee is like the Maryanne (Gilligan's Island) of Firefly.
Wash is my next favorite.
