My Brilliant Hubby

Jeremy has decided to start taking horticulture classes with a specialization in golf course design and upkeep. We went up to the college yesterday to get him registered and have him take his placement test. He was really nervous about going because he never did very well in school, and he was sure he would bomb on the placement test. Well, I drop Jeremy off with $15 and his high school transcript (from a Christian school that burned to the ground the summer he graduated, so he had incomplete records...that's a whole other story) and left to troll the mall for a couple of hours while he took the dreaded test. I got back about 5-10 minutes before he finished (great timing, eh?) and Launa and I waited while he got his results. Guess what? He passed with flying colors! He surprised himself (he later confessed to me that he guessed a lot), and is feeling very encouraged about school. He pretty much feels like Superman! He can do this school thing! He has a motivation and a confidence that he didn't have in high school, and I'm so proud and excited for him! The bad news is, that while they accepted his fragmented transcript, they didn't accept his high school's accreditation, and are making him get his GED. So much for toughing it out and finishing school, huh? He still has to get a GED. I'm a little irked about that, but Jeremy is confident that he won't have any trouble taking the test. What a guy!

oh yay!! that's great! i'm so proud of jeremy! and who cares if he guessed, he guessed right, that's the point! when you guess, you are using the information that you have, and trying to peice it together with information you don't have. so, jeremy is very good at guessing what the right missing info is. see? smart.

Yep. Eliminate the answers you know are wrong, and pick the best guess from the possible correct ones.

It bites that they won't accept his high school diploma! Sounds like he's got a great attitude though. :)

He does! He's very motivated right now, and I think he surprised himself about how well he did. He's very gung-ho right now. But I'm glad. He can be very hot and cold, and right now he's hot. I just hope he keeps it up!
