How Old Am I?

I was sitting here playing around on my blog, and Daniel was in the room. The Fraggle Rock theme came on, and Daniel knew what it was because I showed the kids a clip from a show that was on YouTube the other night. He asked me if I had seen the whole movie before. I told him that it was a tv show from when I was a kid. Daniel answers with, "Oh! So it was a black and white show?"

The funny thing is, I remember thinking that my parents had been around in covered wagon days, so I guess I can't be too upset with him for thinking I'm a really old lady, it's just funny when it's your kid that thinks that way about you! (Not to mention it used to blow my mind that my parents were born in the 1950s! At least I was born in the same century as my folks! My kids were born in a completely different millenium than I was! Now that's crazy!)

What a way to look at the world! Not just a different century a different millenium. lol

I vaguely remember Fraggle Rock. It was on cable though so I only saw it at my cousins house. Although I can hear the song, "Down at Fraggle Rock..."

ROTFL. Daniel's awesome! Dalynn teases me about being old, too. I don't think Thana really gets the concept yet.
I do remember that I made my dad a birthday card with a dinosaur on it when I was 10 and he was 30. The caption read, "Your childhood pet." Now, I'm older than he is. Funny how life works, huh?
And that's why I'm the one who voted for Depends. Although, at first, I did think that you meant "depends" with a lower-case d, as in, "maybe boxers, maybe briefs, according to my mood on a particular day", rather than "Depends" as in, "I lose bladder control when I sneeze." I think my mind is going, too.

Hey Mary! I think I forgot to tell you about the blog Erik and I are doing about the kids. Mostly boring "aren't my kids adorable!" stuff, but you could check it out.

DC - Yeah, wrap your mind around that one, my friend! We are REALLY old now! ;P Liz- cartoons aren't as good as you remember them being, believe me, I know, we've bought some boxed sets of cartoons we used to watch as kids, and have been disappointed. They aren't all bad, they're just not as good as we remember. :( Stupid boxed sets! Ruin your memories! Laura - that's so funny! I can see Daniel doing that to me someday (*ahem* in 3 1/2 years). And I'm glad you got the Depends joke - I wasn't sure if anyone would catch it. Timpani- Ooh! I'll go read it after I get Daniel off to school! It sounds cute. :)

I bet dollars to donuts he got that idea from your dad at some point in recent history..

I'm still waiting for some divine revelation to come out of Jocelyn's mouth. I envision it being one of the following.

" Dad, what was the world like before handsome men like you? "

or

" Dad, do you still have your old knight rider big wheels? If so can I borrow it for my date this weekend? "

ROFL Rob! You just keep dreaming my friend, when her real opinion of you is revealed, watch out! (And remember, I'm 5 years younger than you, if Daniel thinks I'M old, what must he think of YOU?)

I actually went to youtube and watched intros to Fraggle Rock, He-Man, She-Ra, Smurfs,... Good times. :)

Rob,
You're hilarious. Please don't mention Jocelyn and dates in the same sentence again, please! She's only three. Although, it will be happening before we know it. Look how fast the past years have gone by, and each one gets quicker.

Oh, and get this one, all. One day, I asked Braden how old he thought I was, and he said, "OH, about sixty." He thought my grandpa was 80, well, if he was a Grandpa at 20, that's starting YOUNG! He thought Ben was 62 or something like that, though, so I take comfort in the fact that Ben's finally older than me. Although, he knew how old his mother was. So if Ben's 62 and she's 28, he's quite the "Heff".
Oh, and for those of you who don't know, I'm not 60, I'm 32. 31 when I had this conversation with Braden.
Word of advise, never ask a five-year-old how old he thinks you are if you are not prepared for an honest answer.

Oh yeah, I should have put this song (Older) up when I first posted this thread, but anyway, if you haven't listened to it yet, go back and give it a listen, it hould come up automatically. This song cracks me up every time I hear it, and it's very appropriate!

DC- Fraggle Rock was actually a really cute show. We didn't have cable either...I can't remember how we were able to watch it now that I think about it. Was it on Saturday mornings? Of course everything that Jim Henson did was pretty good. I remember when he died. My dad was working for "The Daily Report" newspaper in Ontario, CA, and he brought the paper home with a front page write up about him. Dad was really sad, but I didn't really understand about it then.

Laura, that is so funny! Braden is Kristen's son, right? I had the opportunity to ask a few teenagers how old I look to them and decided not to. I'm afraid they'll say I look 30ish (which isn't bad if you ARE 30ish, but I'm not there quite yet). I'm always afraid that I look way older than I really am. (Do you remember when it made you feel so cool to look older than you are? Or was that just me?) I just feel like since I had my kids I look fat and haggard. The stay-at-home-mom frumps, ya know.

Say what you may, but all of you are babies.. So young and feeling so old! Just wait. You can't stay 29 forever either! Wait until people think you are your mother's sister. And then when they ask which of you is older! See how you feel then! I'm so glad Mom was young when I was born and and that she is still very young for her age! It helps that she has a persoonal shopper these days! Life has it's ups and it's downs and it's downs and it's downs.
