These Really ARE The Best Brownies!

Once when I had been really bogged down with school work, and Daniel had just gotten home from school but went over to his friend's house, Launa was feeling really lonely and sad that she didn't have anyone to play with. Well, I wanted her to feel better, so I asked her if she wanted to make brownies. She got all excited about it, and I went to get the recipe from my cookbook. Sadly, it called for melted chocolate, and all I had was cocoa powder. I got on the internet to get a recipe that called for cocoa powder instead of chocolate. I immediately found some brownies called "The Best Brownies". Sounded like my kinda brownies! So I got the recipe (from here: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1610,153184-228203,00.html ), but I had to write it out by hand because my printer almost never works. Somehow I copied the recipe down strangely, and I came up with an even better version of "The Best Brownies". Believe me, you really want to try them!

Mary's Best Brownies:

1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/3 c. cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend butter, sugar and vanilla in a larger bowl. Add egg whites, and beat on high speed with hand mixer until batter gets foamy. In a small mixing bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder. Gradually blend into egg mixture. Spread into 9" pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Frosting:

3 Tbsp. butter, softened
3Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. powdered sugar
1-2 Tbsp. milk

Cream butter, cocoa powder, corn syrup and vanilla in small mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar and milk. Beat to spreading consistency.

These brownies are good, but they are even better the second day for some reason. Anyway, since I couldn't think of anything good to post, I thought I'd put up something good to eat. Almost as good as something clever or witty-and tastier!

This is definetly not rob mocca, move along. Even though this isn't rob mocca, nor do I have any affliation with him, he would probably tell you good luck on your journey and may the sun and moon rise safely on your journey, and may this run on sentance continue until you are safely in Georgia, those brownies weren't bad at all, didn't get to try any of the cake though, the fireworks were fun, Jocelyn is fine after taking that frisbee to the face btw, I can't see the top of what I was writing here anymore so I forgot if I mentioned this is definetly not rob mocca or not?

Is this a conspiracy?!! The world is trying to sabotage me, I swear! I just had a baby people, I have about 30 pounds to lose. My friends and neighbors keep bringing me goodies! I like it when they bring me dinner, but what is with the goodies? Yes, I guess it could mean that they love us, but I think it is more sinister than that! I think they are out to fatten me up. It's sabotage, I tell you! SABOTAGE!!!! ;) Right now I have a plate of brownies, and a pan of this chocolate/carmel stuff that is really good. You see, normally after childbirth, I have this amazing will power for like a month, where chocolate has no power over me. That will power has gone AWOL on me this time. We just got rid of a big plate of chocolate chip cookies, and now all of this good stuff. SHHH, I might have to chuck some of it into the trash, just so I don't eat it all. SHHHHH!!!! Why must you all torture me like this?

BTW, I love your picture, Mary. Plus the bit about you being a girl, not a fish was funny too!

that's right renae. we're all actually canabals, and we're just fattening you up for the feast we're having in a couple of months.

and don't chuck the goodies. bring them to ME!! i'm craving goodies, yum.

Okay Renae, the truth is that we are all jealous of how great you ALWAYS look! We're tired of you making us look bad, so the whole idea this time around is to make you the same as the rest of us - tired, fat and haggard! Keep me updated on how our plans to ruin you for life are going. How's that baby doing, BTW?

And thanks for the compliments.

Which picture are you talking about? My fish picture, or my orange and red picture? When I get to GA, I'm going to make some of my brownies and mail them to you. Just to continue on with the plan.
