Best Article I've Ever Read

Okay, you guys probably saw it too on your news feeds today, but it cracked me up, so I had to do a post about it. If you click on this link, it will take you to a story about a 13-year-old that was given a Walk-Man cassette tape player by his dad who told him that it was their equivalent of an iPod when he was a teenager and then asked him what he thought of it. I think it's a cool experiment, and the results will have you rolling!

Yikes! I'd hate for this kid to see my first pc when I was a kid. Green & orange screens used to be so cutting edge!

and yet we landed men on the moon a decade before the walkman was commercially viable.

Good point John. I think the consumer got gypped on that one.

At least the WalkMan was better than the horrible Discman. The DiscMan made the iPod necessary.

Amen MC! That's Discman thing was just awful!! I laughed so hard. Great find!

Hey, I don't even have an ipod. I want one, but I can't really afford to spend money on such unnecessaries. I also still have a discman (yes, aweful it skips so bad when you move) and a cassette walkman that I occasionally use around the house to listen to books on tape from the library while I'm cleaning.

Holy crap, I've become my parents!

Wow! A real honest to goodness cassette player!! They're hard to come by these days. A friend's parents gave me a bunch of books on tape (literally on tape) for my long drive back to KY. I didn't have the heart to tell 'em that my only hope for listening to 'em would be to buy a used boom box from Goodwill & use batteries in it while driving cross country. :)

There needs to be (and I think someday there will be) a universal reader. It won't have a slot or port of anything, just a chamber and it will just cat scan anything you throw in there and figure out what its supposed to sound like.

Invent it John, and you will never have to worry about money again.
