Two Days Ago

I got a call from the library. I had forgotten that I requested a hold on the book Twilight since I had heard so much about it. So I went to pick it up. That book is monstrous, by the way - 500 pages! I started to read it thinking it would probably take me 3 weeks to do it since I have school work and I'm job hunting and everything. Yeah, so instead, I read half of it on Monday, and half of it yesterday. I had two big assignments due last night, and I put them off til I finished the book. I don't think I got to bed until 2:30 this morning. So, yeah, thanks for the recommendation. Now I have to wait 3 weeks for the next book to come in, I'm desperately tired, I almost forgot to get up this morning to send Daniel to school, and I forgot to vote, because I was too enthralled, and now Obama is my President! You guys are great. (Just kidding, I did vote, I even took the book with me in case I had to stand in line for an hour. Unfortunately they got us right in.) So, the movie's coming out in a couple of weeks, huh? I have fabulous timing! I think I might just buy the next two books so I can read them next week while I have a little bit of time off school. Man am I a loser! ;)

there are three more books mary, not two. four in all. and i think your reaction was perfectly normal. those books are simply impossible to put down, that's all. you'll find yourself wanted to reread them over and over next. all this is perfectly normal, nothing to stress about. and yeah, i'd buy the whole set, just because these are definitly books you'll want to own for future perusal. ;)

Now if I can only convince Jeremy to let me drop $80.00 on them! I need to find a used book store around here. Shoot, I need to get a job so I have my own money to blow! ;)

AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! You are all robots! I will never read those books, simply because I'm sick of hearing about them. I won't watch the movie either!

LOL Renae! I won't try to make you read them. I'm just surprised that I got so into a book. There are so few good books anymore, and my time is at a premium these days, so I was impressed. My mother-in-law saw that I was 3/4 of the way through the giant book yesterday afternoon, and knowing how long I had had to work on them, couldn't believe I had read so much.

And anyway, how is the hysteria created by these books any different from Harry Potter I would like to know? I have heard much more about HP than I had about Twilight, yet I think I heard somewhere that you have read those...and possibly seen the movies...?

yes, it's true. I love HP, and I have no real reason not to jump onto this bandwagon. It's just that I loved HP before I heard so incredibly much about it that I wanted to stab my eye out. I'm just being obstinant for no good reason. Silly really, but there you are.

I'm re-reading New Moon right now! I'm buying the books with my survey points, so it will probably be another 2-3 months before I can buy the next book in the series. I fully expect to read these books over and over again just like the Harry Potter books.

Only gripe with Twi books- more sex than HP.

why does everyone say that the twilight series is so sexed up? i totally did not get that impression at all! and to be honest, not everyone says that. just more people than i would have expected.

Hmmm...so the first book is rather sensual in parts, but there is no actual smut in that one. I of course have still not read the other 3, so I can't say what's in them. I actually liked it though, because it wasn't vulgar.

there's no smut in any of them. i think stephenie handles all that very well. my own opinion of course.

Maybe my imagination just roamed a little too much during the parts with Jacob Black ;)

AAAAAAH! Guess what?! I just got a call from the library and my second book came in already! I was 3rd on the list, and it's here already! (Of course they have multiple copies, but still...) Yay!

Woo hoo! We'll both be reading it at the same time (2nd time for me, so a different experience, but still).

oh ugh, timpani, are you a jacob fan? jacob drives me crazy. i'm team edward all the way.

After the first book I'm an Edward fan. I didn't know there was anything going to happen with Jacob, thanks for the tip, but...eh...I like the danger of being in love with a vampire! And anyway, Edward sounds so much better-looking! ;) (He's NOT good-looking in the movie, I'm kinda bummed about that.) The librarian told me today that the final book either makes or breaks the series, and it killed the series for her. (Don't tell me, I don't wanna know!) Anyway...it's funny that there's a team for each side! :) I can't believe I'm getting so into these books. I really do have no life. :D

Oh yeah, Team HOT HOT HOT Native American guy with long dark hair, and dark skin, and did I mention the Native American part?

lizS said...

normally, i'm all over that dark good looks thing. but jacob is so...so...ADOLESCENT!! all his whining and attemps at manipulation drive me CRAZY!!

::SOB:: Stupid Edward! WAAAAHAAHAAHAAHAA!! (middle of chapter 2...) That's as far as I am right now...

Hey, isn't Jacob's family "supernatural" too? After what I just read, it seems as if Bella is a monster magnet!

Something I was just thinking, though. Bella is a bit sullen - normal for a teenager, but I have the feeling, that that would be a little off-putting to someone that was 100 years old....which, incidentally, kinda skeeves me out a little too. But if I were Bella I wouldn't care either! ;P
