Very Sad News

Corrections made:

Our church has made it a priority to find the un-churched and bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Today a young man from our church who just got serious about the Lord had a motorcycle accident and passed away. He has a young son and a 9 month old son. He and his wife just married two weeks ago, and they were learning what it means to be followers of Christ (they had made their decision to follow Him about a year and a half ago). We have the confidence that we will see him again in Heaven, but we are very sad for his wife and children. Anyway, his wife needs your prayers as she is now the mother of a newborn with no daddy to help raise him. His children need your prayers too. Everyone needs their daddy.

Oh, that just brought tears to my eyes. Having lost my father as a child, I have a special sympathy for children who lose theirs.

I'll definitely pray for them. Thanks for letting us know.

that is a big worry of mine and im sure a lot of other fathers. what would my fam do if i was taken. My wife, who is reading over my shoulder just said "your insured". it sounded a lot like "who cares".

I know this is sad, but I giggled for a good minute over Bruce's comment. Even with Erik insured (so money would be ok), I would still be begging my little sister to move in with me to help out with the kids!

ugh, if john passed, i would be a psychotic wreck for at least a year, maybe more. he's my sanity.

I try not to think about it, but obviously when something like this happens, you can't help but think about it. We're trying to treasure each other and make long term plans for the future of our family. As much as I hate this, I don't want to forget this feeling of how precious every moment is.

Oh yeah, and also Liz, if that ever should happen, you could always move in with me until the psychotic break is over. (Even longer if you want.)

Ya know it's just during the past few years that I've learned that life is full of scary and tragic events and that they're not gonna stop. :)

Learning to cope is part of our mortal experience. I think that for Christians "coping" simply put is "trusting". When we make the decision to follow God it means that we must really follow after Him whatever may come. I think what God really wants is our trust. "Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death I will fear no evil"

There's a quote that gives me a lot of peace and I use it to call upon the strength God has bestowed upon me. I'll share it...

Our Lord never asks sacrifices from us above our strength.

~ Saint Therese of Lisieux

(St. Therese was a young French woman that died at the age of 24 after many trials and tribulations who knows of what and Whom she speaks.)

I've learned that regardless of the pain or suffering I'm experiencing... When I tell God that I choose to trust Him but that I'm incapable on my own then He will give me the supernatural ability to do so. Yet that only occurs as I am honest with those around me and admit my need for their prayers.

We are in this together. :)
